Le Cinque Terre

Today Elspeth and I went to the Cinque Terre. We caught a train up to Monterosso and had planned to do some  the walks between the towns. Unfortunately, all the normal ones were closed, so we decided to do some of the harder ones. We ended up setting out from Monterosso al mare on a walk to Vernazza, which was supposed to take about an hour and 20 minutes.

It was a lovely walk and started off with cool but pleasant weather.

Eventually, however, the heavens opened and we got a bit damp. As in soaking wet. We ended up back in Monterosso al mare we know not how, and, sopping wet, headed back along the 20 minute walk over the headland to the town’s train station.

We were very glad to get warm and dry again.

So there is a sun!

After waking up to a thunderstorm this morning and cancelling my plans to go to La Spezia, at about 3.30 the weather started to clear. I decided to take Popoff for a walk.Image

-Popoff, I’m pretty sure he has no training…

We walked for about an hour, with gradually more and more sun showing its face. Here are a couple of photos I took while we were on our walk.

Weather again

I woke up this morning and it wasn’t raining, it was cloudy, but sun was peeping through the cover. I decided to go on a journey to see what I could see, so I got dressed and went to make breakfast. As I ate, the weather got grimmer and grimmer. Still no rain though. I stepped out the door, and down it came. I guess I’ll have my journey another day…
